Text: 3 John 1:2
Pastor Adeeko reminds us that God’s desire for us is to be in good health, but there are reasons why people get sick.
Firstly, sin can lead to sickness, as seen in Adam’s sin in Romans 5:12. Our individual sins can also open doors to sickness and disease, as stated in John 5:14.
Secondly, satanic attacks can cause sickness, as seen in Luke 13:10-16, where Satan bound a woman for 18 years. However, Jesus came to heal and set us free, as stated in Acts 10:38.
Lastly, natural causes, such as exposure and habits, can lead to sickness, as seen in John 9:2-7.
But the good news is that Jesus paid the price for our sin and sicknesses through His atonement. Romans 5:12 and Genesis 2:17 remind us that sin brought sickness, but God’s forgiveness through Jesus takes away our sicknesses. Psalms 103:1-3, Isaiah 33:24, and Isaiah 53:4-6 assure us that with forgiveness comes healing.
In Leviticus 16:5-12,21-22, we see the Day of Atonement, where goats were used to atone for sin and sickness. Matthew 8:17 and 1 Peter 2:24 remind us that Jesus took our infirmities and diseases, and by His stripes, we are healed. Colossians 2:13 assures us that God made us alive with Christ, forgave our sins, and healed our sicknesses.
The message is clear: healing is available, and we are already healed because our sins have been forgiven. We need to awake to this truth and receive God’s provision for healing. On the basis of Jesus taking away all our infirmities and sicknesses, we can declare, “I AM ETERNALLY HEALED!”
