Wike Inaugurates STDD Coordinator with Strong Anti Corruption Warning

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Satellite Towns Development Department, STDD, has appointed a new Coordinator, with a firm warning against engaging in corrupt practices or negotiating contracts for personal benefits.

The Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, issued the caution during the inauguration of Mr Abdulkadir Zulkiflu as the new STDD Coordinator.

Wike emphasized the importance of effectively coordinating the Satellite Towns to bring about development, stressing his readiness to take decisive action against any form of corruption.

He advised the new Coordinator to view his appointment as an opportunity to contribute to national development and ensure that all satellite towns experience the government’s impact.

Wike remarked, “Mr. President deemed you fit to contribute to national development, particularly in the FCTA. Your role is pivotal in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda in Satellite Towns.”

He further added, “Your duty is to coordinate, liaise, and report to me as the Minister of the FCT.

You are not there to engage in backdoor negotiations with contractors. Should I uncover any such activities, appropriate measures will be taken.”

“Focus on your responsibilities. Your actions will speak louder than words. I have no patience for flattery. Let your performance speak for itself,” Wike emphasized.

“Now that FCTA is actively involved in satellite towns’ development, ensure that all tasks are executed with utmost diligence,” he advised.

Addressing the issue of sanitation in Satellite Towns, Wike urged the Coordinator to ensure thorough oversight, confirming contractors’ completion of tasks before submitting payment requests.

He stressed that substandard practices in environmental sanitation would no longer be tolerated.

“FCTA disburses funds for satellite town cleaners monthly, regardless of their performance. As the coordinator, it is your responsibility to ensure proper execution before seeking approval,” Wike asserted.

“We’ve implemented a process involving area councils’ chairmen in vetting payment requests to enhance transparency,” Wike concluded.
