Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have achieved a significant victory in the ongoing fight against terrorism, killing scores of terrorists, including the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, during coordinated clearance operations.
According to Major General Edward Buba the Director, Defence Media Operations, the operation, conducted on January 17, 2025, targeted terrorist hideouts along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis.
The troops engaged the terrorists at Fakai high ground, resulting in heavy casualties and the destruction of a major logistics hub. Several kidnapped hostages held by Bello Turji were also rescued.
In a cowardly act, Bello Turji fled the battlefield, abandoning his son and other combatants.
In a related operation, troops destroyed the camp of another terrorist kingpin, Idi Mallam, located in the Zango Kagara Forest.
During the encounter, three terrorists were neutralized, three suspected collaborators were arrested, and a cache of weapons, including two machine guns and one AK-47 rifle, was recovered. Additionally, troops rescued 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep, along with other items.
The military reiterated its commitment to sustaining the offensive against terrorists and ensuring the safety and protection of citizens nationwide.
