The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has expressed profound gratitude to Transcorp Hilton Abuja for generously hosting the 2025 NUJ Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The distinguished event brought together journalists, media executives, policymakers, and industry leaders from across Nigeria. It was held in the renowned Borno-Rivers Hall—one of the hotel’s iconic meeting facilities—celebrated for its longstanding dedication to press freedom and public discourse.
Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, praised Transcorp Hilton Abuja as a steadfast friend of the media. She commended the hotel’s management not only for providing a world-class venue but also for demonstrating corporate social responsibility by supporting initiatives that foster national dialogue and uphold professional excellence.
“We are deeply thankful to Transcorp Hilton Abuja for recognizing the media’s vital role as the cornerstone of democracy,” Ike stated.
“Their generosity and hospitality were instrumental to the success of this year’s lecture and awards, which honor journalists and organizations that champion truth, integrity, and development.” 
Themed “Journalism in a Changing World: Media, Press Freedom, Democracy and Society,” the lecture featured keynote addresses from distinguished figures such as the Minister of Housing, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa; former Governor of Nasarawa State and UBEC Chairman, Tanko Al-Makura; Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on FCT, Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara; NUJ President, represented by VP Zone D, Adeiza Momoh; President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero; former chairmen of council, as well as veteran journalists.
Several courageous and impactful Nigerian leaders were also recognized for their exemplary contributions during the awards session. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, who served as guest speaker, received an award for his commitment to gender equality.
Reaffirming the hotel’s commitment, Mr. Ifeanyi Nnadi, Assistant Public Relations and Marketing Manager of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, emphasized the strong partnership between the media and the hotel.
“At Transcorp Hilton Abuja, we view the media as partners in progress. We are honored to host the NUJ and will continue supporting platforms that celebrate excellence, promote dialogue, and strengthen democratic institutions,” he remarked.
Similarly, Ms. Ijeoma Osuji, e-Commerce Manager of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, expressed pleasure in welcoming the NUJ FCT Council members, stating, “We value the media’s crucial role in shaping society and remain committed to supporting forums that encourage meaningful conversations and national growth.”
Journalists who attended the event also lauded Transcorp Hilton Abuja for its generosity.

Comrade Ndambabo, Vice Chairman of the NUJ Abuja Council, echoed these sentiments, affirming the council’s deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the prestigious 5-star hotel.
