Terror Kingpin Yellow Danbokkolo Dies from Gunshot Wounds After Clash with Troops

A notorious terrorist kingpin, Yellow Danbokkolo, has been confirmed dead following a gun battle with Nigerian troops in Eastern Sokoto, according to a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye.

Danbokkolo, described by security sources as more feared than the infamous bandit leader Bello Turji, sustained fatal gunshot wounds during a coordinated intelligence-led operation conducted last week by troops of Operation FASAN YAMA, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces, Air Components, and other security agencies.

According to a statement by the Director Defence Media Operations Major General Markus Kangye in Abuja, Danbokkolo succumbed to his injuries on Monday, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing military campaign against terror groups operating in the northwest. The military credited his death to a fierce encounter between troops and fleeing terrorists in the region.

“Yellow Danbokkolo was a long-standing menace to residents of Eastern Sokoto. He was behind the horrific December 2021 attack in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where he masterminded the burning to death of all passengers aboard a commercial vehicle,” the statement noted.

Military intelligence also revealed that Danbokkolo sustained his brutal reign through constant use of pentazocine, a potent opioid, which enabled him to carry out acts of terror with ruthless disregard for human life.

Following the successful neutralization of Danbokkolo, troops have intensified efforts to capture his associate, Bello Turji, who remains in hiding.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and security across all troubled regions and urged citizens to support military operations through cooperation and timely information sharing.
