Successful Military Operations Yield Significant Results: Major General Buba.


 In a recent press release dated March 22, 2024, Director Defence Media Operations,Major General Edward Buba,provided updates on the ongoing military operations conducted by the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The operations, aimed at combating insurgency and terrorism while safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, have yielded commendable results across various fronts.

Troops engaged in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations have demonstrated unwavering commitment, often putting themselves in harm’s way to protect the citizenry.

As a testament to their efforts, several kidnapped hostages have been rescued, reuniting them with their families.

Additionally, troops have successfully thwarted terrorist activities, preventing potential harm to civilians.

A notable focus of these operations has been the pursuit of those responsible for the brutal killing of 18 soldiers on March 14, 2024.

Extensive clearance operations, including cordon and search missions, have been conducted in communities such as Akugbene, Ukuama, and Okoloba in Delta State.

While some progress has been made in recovering the weapons of the fallen soldiers, the perpetrators remain at large, prompting continued manhunts in affected areas.

Across various theatres of operation, significant strides have been made. Troops have neutralized 106 terrorists, apprehended 103 suspects, and arrested 22 individuals involved in oil theft.

Moreover, 96 kidnapped hostages have been rescued, contributing to the restoration of safety and security in affected regions.

Notably, efforts to curb oil theft have resulted in the denial of theft amounting to over N754 million in the South-South region.

The recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition further underscores the success of these operations.

Among the seized items are various firearms, ammunition, explosives, and communication devices, significantly hindering the capabilities of criminal elements.

In the Niger Delta region, troops have discovered and dismantled numerous illegal refining sites, dugout pits, and storage facilities used for criminal activities.

The destruction of these facilities, along with the recovery of stolen crude oil and petroleum products, marks a significant blow to illegal activities in the area.

Of particular interest is the emergence of a viral video implicating individuals in the aforementioned killings of soldiers.

The video serves as a crucial lead for ongoing investigations, urging state governments and local communities to collaborate in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.

Major General Buba emphasizes the collective responsibility in ensuring that those responsible for such heinous acts are brought to justice, urging active participation from all stakeholders.
