Successful Military Operations Lead to Significant Gains in National Security


In a press release issued today by Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, the Armed Forces of Nigeria highlighted the ongoing military operations conducted across the country to ensure national security.

The primary focus of these operations is to apply military pressure on terrorist groups, insurgents, and extremists, aiming to dismantle and destroy their networks or force them into submission. The military remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for citizens by eradicating threats that perpetrate insecurity.

However, a somber note was struck in the wake of a mishap in Kaduna resulting from a drone strike. The military expressed condolences to those affected, promising a thorough investigation into the incident to identify areas for improvement and forestall future occurrences.

The week’s operations yielded significant results, with 80 terrorists neutralized, 304 arrested, and 152 individuals involved in oil theft apprehended. Troops also rescued 44 kidnapped hostages, demonstrating a comprehensive effort to tackle various security challenges.

In terms of weaponry, the military recovered 112 assorted weapons and 898 ammunition rounds. The recovered items included guns, rifles, ammunition, and various other tools used by criminal elements. Additionally, the Armed Forces destroyed illegal refining sites and confiscated stolen crude oil in the Niger Delta region.

Major General Edward Buba expressed deep concern over civilian casualties during operations, acknowledging the tragic nature of such incidents. The military is committed to addressing this issue, emphasizing the importance of protecting civilians as an integral part of their operations to enhance overall security for all Nigerians.

As the operations continue, the Armed Forces of Nigeria reassures the public that they will take significant measures to prevent civilian casualties, underscoring their dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of the Nigerian population.
