Speaker Abbas Felicitates New NBA President, Pledges House’s Support for Better Judiciary and Legal Profession


The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D, has congratulated the newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The Speaker also extended his congratulations to all the newly elected members of the national executive council of the NBA.

Speaker Abbas commended the NBA and its members for conducting peaceful elections, which is a testament to the association’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law. He also congratulated the outgoing NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau (SAN), for his successful tenure and contributions to the legal profession.

The Speaker reiterated the 10th House’s willingness to work with the NBA towards a better judicial system for the country. He expressed the parliament’s commitment to partnering with the new leadership to address challenges affecting the legal profession and ensure that the judiciary is strengthened to deliver justice to all Nigerians.

Speaker Abbas wished the newly elected NBA leadership a successful tenure as they prepare to take over in the coming weeks. He expressed confidence that the new leadership would build on the achievements of the outgoing leadership and take the NBA to greater heights.

The message reaffirms the House’s commitment to working with the NBA and other stakeholders to promote the rule of law, justice, and democracy in Nigeria.
