The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has commended the President and CEO of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for his significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy. Abbas gave the commendation during a reception accorded to him and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, by Dangote Group in Lagos.
Abbas assured that the House of Representatives is committed to addressing regulatory, infrastructural, and financial challenges facing private sector investments in Nigeria. He emphasized that the House is working to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive through legislative reforms that streamline processes, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance transparency.
The Speaker highlighted the importance of a robust partnership between the government and private enterprises like Dangote Group for sustainable development. He commended Dangote for his foresight and faith in the Nigerian project, noting that the Dangote Petroleum refinery will create thousands of jobs and promote local content.
Abbas encouraged Dangote to further explore other avenues to complement the efforts of the federal government, such as investing in renewable energy, enhancing corporate social responsibility programs, and fostering innovations through research and development. He expressed his belief that Nigeria will become a greater nation with the contributions of private sector players like Dangote.
The Speaker’s remarks were made during a tour of the Dangote Petroleum refinery in Lagos, which he described as a “state-of-the-art facility” that symbolizes the strength and potential of Nigerian industry. He emphasized the significance of the private sector in driving economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness, and thanked Dangote for his hospitality and belief in Nigeria.
