Speaker Abbas Charges North West Development Commission to Deliver

In a meeting that marked a significant milestone, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen of the House of Representatives received the board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) at his office. The courtesy call was an opportunity for the Speaker to emphasize the high expectations placed on the NWDC to address the myriad challenges facing the North West region.

The North West region is currently grappling with an array of problems, including insurgency, banditry, unemployment, and drug-related issues. These challenges have made the region the worst-hit zone in Nigeria, making the NWDC’s role even more critical.

Speaker Abbas, while acknowledging the enormity of the task ahead, expressed his confidence in the NWDC’s ability to deliver. He noted that the commission’s success is crucial to the development of the North West region and, by extension, the entire country.

“We have high expectations from you,” the Speaker told the NWDC board. “We will be watching closely to see how you perform. The National Assembly will provide all necessary support to ensure your success.”

The NWDC board, led by Chairman Alhaji Lawal Samaila Yakawada, thanked Speaker Abbas for his efforts in establishing the commission and ensuring its speedy takeoff. They assured the Speaker of their commitment to accountability, transparency, and achieving the commission’s targets.

As the NWDC sets out to tackle the challenges facing the North West region, it is clear that the commission has a daunting task ahead. However, with the support of the National Assembly and the determination of its board, there is hope that the NWDC will make a meaningful impact and bring about much-needed development to the region.

The success of the NWDC will be a significant milestone in Nigeria’s development journey. As the commission works to address the challenges facing the North West region, it is essential that they remain focused, committed, and transparent in their operations.
