Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has made minor adjustments to the leadership of some Standing Committees to enhance oversight and effectiveness.
During Tuesday’s plenary session, Abbas announced the following changes:
– Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin (NNPP, Kano) as the new Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Habitat
– Rep. Oluwole Oke (PDP, Osun) as Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs
– Rep. Aminu Balele (APC, Katsina) as Chairman of the Committee on Army
– Rep. Mamudu Abdullahi (APC, Niger) as Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary
Additionally, an Ad Hoc Committee was constituted to investigate the frequent closure of businesses in Nigeria, chaired by Rep. Kayode Moshood Akiolu (APC, Lagos).
The changes aim to leverage the strengths and experiences of the members to improve the committees’ performance. Rep. Jibrin, a fourth-term member, brings his expertise from previous chairmanships and executive roles to his new position.
The House has adjourned for a short recess until July 2, 2024.
