In a stride towards bolstering the welfare of troops stationed in the North East theatre of operations, Major General W. Shuaibu, the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force NE Operation HADIN KAI, spearheaded the commissioning of a solar-powered borehole at the Nigeria Police Camp in Njimtilo, Maiduguri, on May 14, 2024.
Addressing attendees during the ceremony, General Shuaibu underscored the paramount importance of prioritizing the welfare of troops and their families, a core principle of Lt. Gen. T.A. Lagbaja’s administration as Chief of Army Staff.
He elaborated on the significance of the project, highlighting its aim to ensure accessible water for both military personnel and other allied security agencies stationed at Njimtilo camp.
Emphasizing that this initiative aligns with the broader non-kinetic strategies employed by the Nigerian Army, General Shuaibu expressed gratitude to the COAS for his unwavering commitment to troop welfare.
In his welcome address, Brigadier General O.O. Yakubu, the Nigeria Police Coordinator, described the commissioning as a pivotal moment for the Special Forces Mobile Police Camp in Njimtilo.
He emphasized that the construction of the borehole was a response to the pressing need to address water challenges faced by troops and neighboring communities. General Yakubu reiterated the fundamental importance of water for human life and well-being, underscoring the necessity of such initiatives.
The event also included a tour of the facility, a group photograph session, and addresses to the Mobile Police personnel, marking a collaborative effort to enhance the living conditions and operational capabilities of security forces in the region.
