Senator Gaidam Calls for Proactive and Aggressive Strategy Against Enemies of Peace – Urges Nigeria Police Force to Take Action


The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam has urged the Nigeria Police Force to adopt a proactive and aggressive strategy in combating threats to peace across the nation.

He made this call during an official visit with the Ministers and management of the Ministry of Police Affairs to the Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.

Addressing senior officers, Senator Gaidam emphasized the necessity for a paradigm shift in approach, stating, “We must no longer wait for the enemy to strike; instead, we must take the fight to their doorstep. We must seek out their hideouts, disrupt their operations, and dismantle their networks piece by piece.”

Acknowledging the formidable challenges posed by terrorism and banditry, Senator Gaidam conveyed a message of hope and determination, rallying the police force to stand united against these threats.

He stressed the importance of proactive measures in weakening and ultimately defeating the adversaries, underscoring the need for courage, sacrifice, and unwavering determination.

Highlighting the critical role of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and ensuring the security of communities, Senator Gaidam assured officers of the government’s commitment to their welfare and professional development.

He pledged investments in modernizing the force, including provision of advanced equipment, training programs, and technological solutions, while fostering partnerships with international organizations and friendly nations.

In her remarks, the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, emphasized collaboration with stakeholders to enhance welfare, training, and supportive environments for professional growth within the force.

She urged for gender equality and inclusion of female officers in top management positions, along with effective implementation of policies such as safe school environments.

Expressing gratitude for the commendation, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, assured the Ministers of the Nigeria Police Force’s readiness to collaborate and support efforts aimed at improving welfare, acquiring modern equipment, and reforming the force.

The visit concluded with a commitment from both sides to work hand in hand towards achieving greater operational efficiency and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
