SECURITY IN FCT: POLICE STORMS BANDITS’ HIDEOUTS, ARREST SUSPECTS, DISLODGE CAMPS

In a decisive move to bolster security in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the operatives of the FCT Police Command, in collaboration with the special forces of the Guards Brigade and DSS hunters, launched a coordinated operation against criminal elements on June 7, 2024.

Acting on credible intelligence, the team targeted known kidnappers’ camps at Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest in Kaduna State, bordering the FCT, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

The operation, initiated around 10:00 am, led to the capture of Yahaya Abubakar (25, male, from Mpape), Mohammed Mohamed (32, male, from Zuba, and an ex-convict), Umar Aliyu (20), and Nura Abdullahi (32, male, from Kubwa, and an ex-convict).

These individuals are believed to be part of the ‘Mai One Million’ bandit syndicate, notorious for a series of kidnappings and other criminal activities in and around the FCT.

During the raid, a shootout ensued between the bandits and the security operatives, forcing the criminals to flee.

The security team successfully dismantled the makeshift structures used by the kidnappers, ensuring the safety of several victims who have since been reunited with their families.

Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, praised the efforts of the security operatives, emphasizing the command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining security and safety in the FCT.

He encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653, PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192.
