Security in FCT: Police Arrest Two for Car Theft, Recovers Stolen Vehicles

In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement, the FCT Police Command has apprehended two notorious robbery kingpins involved in a spate of car thefts across the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Haliru and Babangida Mohammed, were captured on April 23, 2024, around 3:00 PM, following an extensive operation aided by digital reconstruction intelligence.

Haliru, a 45-year-old ex-convict from Kano State, and Mohammed, 27, from Mararaba, Nasarawa State, were nabbed at a hotel in Nasarawa while indulging in the proceeds of their criminal activities.

The arrests come after months of pursuit by law enforcement authorities, as the duo had been on the wanted list for their involvement in multiple car theft cases targeting unsuspecting residents.

During the operation, the police recovered five stolen vehicles along with several items suspected to be charms, further implicating the suspects in their illicit activities.

In response to the arrests, Commissioner of Police in FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reaffirmed the commitment of the police force to safeguarding the lives and properties of FCT residents.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and utilize emergency police hotlines to report any suspicious activities promptly.

SP Josephine Adeh, Anipr, Office Public Relations Officer, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining security and urged continued cooperation with law enforcement efforts.

The successful operation stands as a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by the FCT Police Command and serves as a warning to criminals operating within the territory that their illicit activities will not go unpunished.
