Well Meaning Nigerians Groups and Organisations have been urged to continue to support Government in the provision of basic amenities to help alleviate the plight of the less privileged in the Society.
The President Rotary Club of Abuja Bwari, Chidi Godswill Ojogho made the call at the 6th Investiture for the Club President and Fund raising for Club Projects in Abuja.
Rotarian Ojogho who decried the lack of basic amenities such as Healthcare Services Education’, Roads amongst others in the rural areas reiterated the need for collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to help bridge the deficit in these areas.
According to him Education remains the bedrock of developed nations hence the need for all stakeholders to contribute towards developing the sector and making education accessible to all.
He further expressed his desire to provide a better and decent environment for children learning in Kuchiko in Bwari Area Council, who are presently in dire need of classrooms to ease their inhabitable learning conditions.
“There is a school in Kuchiko where I need to focus on and that school is a star project for me, it is in my heart and close to my heart.
I have been to the school and I saw the passion in children to learn; there is no single building in the whole of that school, not one standing both for the office of the head teacher or the classrooms, there is none.
The children there learn under the tree in Kuchiko Bwari; when it is raining, they run to neighbours around the school to take shelter and after the rain, they come out again.
That shows the resilient spirit of the Nigerian child to acquire education; I look at that school and almost shed tears.
In the year 2023/2024, with your support in this rotary year, it is my desire to commit with your support six million naira to erect at least a block of five classrooms.
With you help, we will achieve it, if we have more, we can have additional two classrooms to give hope to these children who have almost lost hope, who are almost believing that this is what education should be, learning under the tree.
It is my desire to let them know that it can be better, education can be acquired under better environment and a more decent atmosphere.
The Rotarian while reiterating his commitment to uphold the motto of the group which is to create hope for the world said more needs to be done to ensure that basic amenities such as Healthcare Services, Education’ amongst others gets to the grassroots.
“If you visit health centers in Bwari Area Council, you will discover that even pregnant women that are eating to access healthcare hardly finds seats to sit down.
With your support, help and encouragement, I hope we will be able to achieve that; this is my star project for the year 2023/2024”
He also called on Government to prioritize the provision of these basic amenities at the grassroots to enable the masses enjoy the dividends of democracy.
