The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, hosted members of the Rivers State Crime Correspondents and Bloggers to a luncheon on Thursday, January 30, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt.
The event aimed to strengthen the partnership between the media and the police in promoting security and transparency.
In his opening remarks, CP Adepoju expressed appreciation for the journalists’ dedication in highlighting the Command’s efforts. He commended them for their professionalism in reporting and their role in shaping public perception, noting that their work fosters trust between the police and the community.
“We have gathered here today to celebrate your hard work, dedication, and compliance with the Nigeria Police Force by continually projecting us in a positive light and informing citizens of our successes,” he stated. “You have been very good partners and very useful to us as an institution.”
The Commissioner acknowledged the media’s contribution to fostering a safer and more secure environment in Rivers State, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration.
Speaking on behalf of the Crime Correspondents, Mr. Amadi Okujobi expressed gratitude for the CP’s gesture, describing it as a motivating recognition of their work. He reaffirmed the correspondents’ commitment to portraying the state as peaceful and economically viable while supporting the police in their mission to ensure security.
The event concluded with the presentation of an Award of Excellence to CP Olugbenga Adepoju in recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to effective policing.
The gathering reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Rivers State Police Command and the media, with both parties pledging to work together to enhance public safety and information dissemination.
