REV. ADEEKO URGES BELIEVERS TO EMBRACE LIFESTYLE OF THANKSGIVING AS CHURCH MARKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY

The Refreshing Word Christian Centre, Kubwa, on Sunday rounded off its annual convention and 20th anniversary celebration with a special thanksgiving service, where the Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Taiwo Adeeko, called on Christians to cultivate a lifestyle of heartfelt gratitude to God.

Speaking during the Thanksgiving Service, Rev. Adeeko emphasized that thanksgiving is a vital Christian discipline that must flow from the heart, lips, and daily actions of believers. Citing Psalm 92:1, Psalm 26:7, and Jonah 2:9, he said genuine thanksgiving begins internally before it is expressed outwardly.

He added that thanksgiving is incomplete without giving from one’s substance, referencing Psalm 116:12 and the story of the woman with the alabaster box in Mark 14:3–9.

On the benefits of thanksgiving, Rev. Adeeko noted that gratitude unlocks continuous divine blessings. “You may not have the best yet, but be thankful for where you are. When you appreciate God, you will be amazed at what He will add to you,” he said, drawing from the feeding of the five thousand in John 6:3–13 and the healing of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11–19.

He encouraged worshippers to thank God even for situations that are not yet perfect, assuring that thanksgiving perfects all things, as reflected in Philippians 4:6. He also reminded the congregation that thanksgiving releases the supernatural, pointing to Jesus’ prayer of thanks before raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:38–44).

“As we learn to celebrate God, the earth will yield its increase to us,” he added, referencing Psalm 67:5–7, while urging believers to remain willing and obedient so they can enjoy the best of the land.

This year’s convention, themed “All Things Are Yours,” began on Wednesday with a Praise Night and featured several guest ministers who expounded on the theme. Among them were Archbishop John Praise of Dominion Chapel, Rev. Tokunbo Adejuwon, National Director of Rhema Bible Training Centre, Rev. Joseph Okpanachi, Rev. Prince Uche, and Pastor Goodness King.

The week-long event concluded with vibrant thanksgiving, worship, and reflection on God’s faithfulness over the past two decades in the ministry.
