Rescue Operation Succeeds: Hostages Freed from School Kidnapping in Kaduna

In a daring and successful operation, the Nigerian military, in collaboration with local authorities and government agencies, has rescued hostages abducted from the LEA School Kuriga in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.

The incident, which occurred on 7 March 2024, saw an unspecified number of pupils taken captive by terrorists.

After receiving the distressing news, the military vowed to spare no effort in ensuring the safe return of the hostages.

This commitment culminated in an extensive search and rescue mission, which reached its fruition in the early hours of 24 March 2024.

A total of 137 hostages, comprising 76 females and 61 males, were liberated in Zamfara State. They will soon be handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further care and support.

This successful operation follows closely on the heels of another rescue mission in Gada LGA of Sokoto State, where 16 pupils, referred to as Almajiris, along with a woman, were freed from captivity.

These hostages were promptly delivered into the care of the Sokoto State Government.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the armed forces’ unwavering determination to locate and rescue all innocent hostages while relentlessly pursuing the terrorists responsible for these heinous crimes.

Furthermore, the military is actively pursuing justice for the tragic loss of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, by intensifying efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the full force of the law.

As the nation grapples with security challenges, the Nigerian armed forces remain resolute in their duty to safeguard the lives and wellbeing of citizens, promising that those who commit acts of terror will face justice without impunity.
