Reps urges FG to contain spread of Anthrax in the country.


The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been urged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to contain the outbreak of Anthrax disease in the Country.

The House of Representatives gave made the call following the adoption of the resolutions of a motion of urgent National importance sponsored by Rep Adamu Tanko from Niger State at plenary.

Leading the debate, the lawmaker expressed worry that the disease might endanger the lives of humans with direct contact with animals or contaminated materials if not curtailed.

Rep Adamu Tanko also prayed the house to directed the National Commission for Disease Control NCDC, to put in place necessary measures to holistically stem the spread of the disease.

Ruling on the motion, the Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu who presided over plenary mandated relevant committees of the House to urgently seek further legislative approach in curtailing the disease before it spreads.
