In a decisive move to crack down on criminal activities, the FCT Police Command conducted a series of coordinated raid operations, resulting in the arrest of 85 suspects and the recovery of various exhibits.
Between March 31 to April 4, 2024, law enforcement agents targeted notorious black spots and criminal hideouts in the Durumi and Dei-Dei areas of Abuja.
These locations, long known as havens for criminal elements, were raided to dismantle illegal structures and apprehend offenders.
During the raids, authorities seized a range of illicit items, including counterfeit currencies in both local and foreign denominations, light weapons, eight motorcycles, seven generators, gadgets, and numerous ATM cards suspected of being stolen.
The suspects, apprehended for offenses such as erecting illegal structures, drug trafficking, and currency counterfeiting, will undergo thorough screening. Those found guilty will face prosecution in court.
As part of the operation, the makeshift wooden structures utilized by criminals were dismantled and destroyed to discourage further criminal activities in the area.
Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to rid the territory of criminal elements.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities using police emergency lines.
