The Police Service Commission (PSC) has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that it has commenced the recruitment of police officers for the year 2025, describing such claims as false and misleading.
In a press statement signed by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission said it has not begun any recruitment exercise and cautioned the public to disregard any unofficial information calling for applications.
“The Commission wishes to state that the stories currently circulating on social media indicating that the exercise has started and inviting applications is misleading and mischievous,” the statement read.
The PSC emphasized that any recruitment process will be carried out in accordance with established procedures and would be officially communicated to the public at the appropriate time.
The Commission expressed concern over the recurring activities of fraudsters who attempt to deceive the public whenever recruitment is being anticipated. It called on relevant security agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice in order to safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process.
While reassuring Nigerians of its commitment to a transparent and lawful recruitment process, the PSC warned individuals behind the fake news to desist or face legal consequences.
“The fraudsters are warned to stay off the Commission’s programmes as they would be fished out and sanctioned according to law,” the statement added.
