The Police Service Commission (PSC) has concluded a four-day induction programme for its Board Members, with commendations for the delegates’ collaborative spirit and dedication to enhancing the Commission’s effectiveness.
The event, which began with a pre-induction dinner on Sunday, featured an official opening ceremony on Monday, followed by intensive paper presentations on Tuesday and Wednesday. The programme drew notable dignitaries and stakeholders in Nigeria’s security sector.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (fdc), Honourable Commissioner representing the Police in the Commission, emphasized the spirit of unity and commitment that defined the entire programme.
“The collaborative spirit and shared commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of the Commission were evident in every discussion,” he said. “Let us take the knowledge gained from this induction back to our respective roles and implement it towards the betterment of our Commission.”
DIG Lakanu also expressed gratitude to the resource persons for their expertise and contributions, noting that their presentations sparked insightful discussions that will positively impact the Commission’s future direction.
He extended special appreciation to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio (GCON), for his humanitarian support and for donating 18 hectares of land for the proposed Police Training College, designed to facilitate short-term courses for members of the Nigeria Police Force. 
Acknowledging the presence of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin (CFR), who represented the Senate President at the opening ceremony, DIG Lakanu highlighted his recent donation of an educational complex in Kabo for the training of PSC staff.
He also recognized the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abdulhamid Ahmed Mallam Madori, for his attendance and support during the opening ceremony.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, praised the unity that prevailed during the event. He urged the Board Members to remain united, stressing that peace must be prioritised and sustained for the Commission to achieve its mandate.
The event also featured presentations from Heads of Departments and Units within the Commission.
