PSC Approves Promotion of 952 Police Officers, Declines 179 Cases


The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 952 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs). The Commission, however, declined the promotion of 176 ASPs who were found to have retired, as well as three others suspected to have died while in service.

The decisions were part of the resolutions reached at the first plenary meeting of the 6th Board of the Commission, held at its corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, mni, congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to demonstrate professionalism, patriotism, and strict adherence to the laws and regulations guiding the Police Service.

He warned that the PSC would no longer condone diversionary or unauthorized actions by serving officers, stressing that the Commission has established channels for ventilating grievances. Argungu further assured officers that their career progression would be protected under the Commission’s watch.

Some of the newly promoted officers include Maidawa Yakubu, Edwin Thomas, Chagga Yakubu, Sabo Hassan, Omini Dickson, Bassey Alobo, Enyinnaya Ejimadu, Grace Okon, Rose Bassey, Fidelis Offorbuike, Adamu Isa Audu, and Ofem Uket.

Others are Elvina Ochia Chukwu of the FCID Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi Lagos; Kyrian Igwe of Enugu State Command; Ndidiamaka Onwude, O/C JWC, B Division, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Command; Rosemary Obianuju Egbo of Warri Area Command, Delta State; Tabitha Gotan; Uya Bassey Johnson of Abia State Command; Elizabeth Ajik, NPF-NCC, FCID; Sunday Prince Ajaegbu, 44 PMF Force Headquarters Abuja; and Deborah Danjuma, SPU Base 7 Abuja.

Also on the list are Olowu Yetunde Olatunde of Ogun State Command, Felix Okpaleke of 32 PMF, Abakaliki, Zakka Bulus of FCT Command Abuja, Kudirat Elegba of SPU Base 2, Lagos, Isioma Omodion of Delta State Command, Ukpabio Ayi Akiba of Rivers State Command, and Edna Emeh Bassey.

The Commission’s approval has been formally communicated to the Inspector General of Police for implementation in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
