PSC Appoints New Police Commissioners for Taraba and Anambra States

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of new Commissioners of Police for Taraba and Anambra State Commands in a move aimed at strengthening security operations in the two states.

Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere, from Abia State, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, replacing CP Peter Oparah. Similarly, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, from Bayelsa State, will assume leadership of the Anambra State Police Command, taking over from Obong Nnache Itam.

The Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, urged the newly appointed Commissioners to settle into their roles without delay and ensure a smooth transition to prevent any security lapses. He emphasized the importance of dedication and commitment in tackling crime and ensuring public safety across their respective states.

DIG Argungu assured that the Commission would closely monitor the performance of the new police chiefs and provide necessary support to enable them to succeed in their roles.

The Commission’s decision has been officially communicated to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.
