Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, has emphasized the pivotal role of law enforcement in fostering a conducive business environment in Nigeria.
Speaking at a gathering with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) team, led by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC & Investment, Senator Gaidam reiterated the imperative of a secure and stable society for businesses to thrive.
The Minister highlighted the core responsibilities of the police, including maintaining law and order, safeguarding lives and property, and upholding the rule of law.
He underscored that a safe business environment is indispensable for both local and foreign investors to operate confidently.
Senator Gaidam expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s economic landscape through the Ease of Doing Business Regulatory Reform Accelerator initiative.
He emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing key barriers to business operations while promoting efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness.
Addressing concerns about corruption, Senator Gaidam affirmed the commitment to combating misconduct and implementing robust systems for transparency and accountability within the police force.
He emphasized the role of law enforcement in enforcing anti-corruption laws and investigating cases of corruption to promote integrity in business dealings.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole commended the Minister’s dedication to creating a favorable business environment in line with the President’s agenda.
She urged the Ministry to intervene in streamlining processes at airports, seaports, and trade corridors to alleviate challenges such as extortion and delays in the movement of goods and services.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Police Affairs and PEBEC to enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria and attract investments, ultimately fostering economic growth and development.
