The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 23 suspected criminals, including armed robbers, cultists, and a kidnapper, as part of efforts to ensure public safety during the festive season. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commended officers for their vigilance and commitment to maintaining security during Christmas celebrations.
In Lagos, police operatives attached to the state command acted on a distress call on December 25, 2024, at about 1 a.m.
The report indicated a group of hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons was operating in the Safejo area of Amukoko.
Prompt action by the officers led to the arrest of three suspects: Emmanuel Okoli (20), Ogunde Tejiri (20), and Emmanuel Orji (18). Weapons used in robbery attacks were also recovered, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members.
Similarly, in Kaduna State, police operatives attached to Saminaka Division arrested Sule Muhammad (25) at about 8 p.m. on the same day.
Muhammad, a member of a notorious kidnapping gang, was found with a fabricated AK-47 rifle and has confessed to involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents in the Saminaka area.
His arrest follows the apprehension of other gang members in August 2024. Police efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang and recover additional weapons.

Successful operations were also recorded in Delta, Ogun, Katsina, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Imo State, with numerous suspects arrested during the holiday period.
The IGP commended the officers involved for their dedication and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. He assured citizens that the police remain committed to creating a secure environment for all during the festive season.
“As the celebrations continue, the Nigeria Police Force will sustain its efforts to ensure that the joy of the season is not dampened by criminal activities,” the IGP said.
