Christians have been urged to commit themselves to Kingdom service with humility, love, and genuine obedience to God’s will.
The call was made by Pastor Wisdom Omotayo during the Sunday service at Refreshing Word Christian Centre in Kubwa, Abuja, where he delivered a sermon titled “Kingdom Service.”
Taking his main texts from Psalm 100:3, John 6:38, and Acts 10:38, Pastor Omotayo emphasized that God created everyone for a purpose, which can only be fulfilled through a life dedicated to service in His Kingdom.
“We are not here by accident. God has a will for each of us. All He asks is that we be willing and obedient,” he declared.
He noted that Kingdom service means making oneself available in God’s vineyard and constantly desiring the things of God. According to him, being born again is not just for personal benefit but to carry out the good works God ordained for each believer.
Referencing Hebrews 12:8 and Genesis 4:1–7, the preacher stressed that not all acts of service are acceptable to God, urging Christians to examine the motive behind their actions.
“Service must come from a place of genuine love—for God and for people,” he said, citing Matthew 22:37–40 and 1 John 4:7–10. “If people in the world serve God instinctively, how much more should those who know Him serve intentionally?”
He also encouraged believers to show kindness, give to the poor, and reflect God’s love in their interactions with others, referencing Hebrews 13:2 and Genesis 18:3–15.
Pastor Omotayo described service as the “ladder to the top,” noting that anyone who desires to lead must first have the heart of a servant. “Don’t let position enter your head,” he warned, drawing lessons from Philippians 2:7–8 and John 13.
He reminded the congregation that service should be from the heart, not for eye-service or selfish gain, referencing Ephesians 6:6–7 and Colossians 3:23.
Concluding with a charge to endurance and holy living, Pastor Omotayo quoted 1 Timothy 2:3, urging believers to lead lives that reflect the love and purity of Christ.
“Our lives must not lead others astray,” he admonished. “Let your lifestyle preach Christ. Let your service reflect Him.”
