….Abure says party will decide candidates for National Assembly leadership Friday.
Senators and House of Representatives labour party members elect have been advised to work assiduously towards ensuring good governance in the Country.
The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti gave the charge at dinner he organised for all the Party’s National Assembly elects in Abuja
Dr. Otti, who said the meeting was to afford them the opportunity to discuss the way forward for a better Nigeria
charged the lawmakers to change Nigeria’s political narrative for the betterment of the lives or the citizens and for the nation’s socio economic growth.
In a remark the Party Chairman
Mr Julius Abure
while congratulating the lawmakers said they must be true representatives of the citizens as Nigerians expectations from them are high given the state of the nation’s economy.
He added that series of engagements have been held by the party to guide the lawmakers towards championing good governance.
“Therefore we must watch our behaviour and our actions, whether we are going to enjoy the support that we enjoyed from the people, depend on the way we conduct ourselves especially our behaviour in the National Assembly.
Wether we like it or not, those elected today will become the mirror through which the party will be assessed; they have become the Apple and the eyes of the party and therefore, that is why we thing we should always be together, educate ourselves, whatever action we want to take, we sit down and eschew it, look at the values and overall benefit that action will have on the party collectively and on individuals and that is why we have these meeting and I am happy that you are here to deepen it.”
On the issue of the candidacy for the leadership of the National Assembly, Abure said the party will be meeting on Friday to finally pick it’s choices for the leadership positions.
He however promised that the Labour Party remains resolute in promoting the interest of the citizenry above personal or political interests.
Present at the dinner were Senators and House of Representatives members elect and party chieftains.
