Ongoing Military Operations Yield Significant Results, Says Nigerian Armed Forces

The Nigerian Armed Forces have intensified military operations across five active theatres, with notable emphasis on the North East (NE) and North West (NW) regions.

This update was provided in a press release issued by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations.

These operations, characterized by their complexity, involve combating adversaries in challenging terrains. Troops are actively engaged on multiple fronts including ground, air, sea, and cyber dimensions, aiming to crush the enemy forces responsible for widespread terrorism and insurgency.

During the past week, the military reported significant achievements. A total of 187 adversaries were neutralized, and 183 individuals were arrested. Additionally, 26 perpetrators of oil theft were apprehended, and 109 kidnapped hostages were rescued. In the South-South (SS) region, the military thwarted oil theft amounting to N1,127,229,890.

The operations also saw the recovery of 128 assorted weapons and 3,300 rounds of ammunition. Among the weapons seized were one PKT gun, 80 AK47 rifles, 15 locally fabricated guns, and several other firearms and explosives. The ammunition included 1,941 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 729 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, and 377 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo.

The military continues to face a relentless enemy determined to perpetrate insecurity across the nation. Measures have been implemented to safeguard critical infrastructure, and several plans targeting such facilities have been thwarted.

The Nigerian Armed Forces emphasize the necessity of uncompromising security measures to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

Major General Buba reaffirmed the military’s commitment to making terrorists pay for every act of aggression, underlining that the fight for the nation’s safety and security remains paramount.

“The defence of our nation is the essence of our mission,” stated Major General Buba. “We are determined to defeat the terrorists on the battlefield and help our nation flourish once again.”
