Oborevwori Mourns Agbor Tanker Fire Victims, Orders Swift Remedial Action


Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker fire incident in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, which claimed four lives and left three others injured.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a diesel tanker reportedly suffered brake failure, overturned at a traffic light junction, and exploded, causing a devastating fire.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor described the incident as horrifying and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and for strength for the bereaved families.

Governor Oborevwori has directed the State Ministry of Health, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and other relevant authorities to provide immediate support to all affected by the tragedy.

Commending the swift response of the Fire Service, security agencies, and residents of Ika South who worked tirelessly to contain the blaze, the Governor acknowledged their dedication and efforts in assisting victims and minimizing further damage.

As the state mourns the loss of lives and property, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Deltans, promising thorough intervention to address the aftermath of the incident.
