NPF Extradites Murder Suspect “Killaboi” From Qatar to Face Trial in Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria to face murder charges.

Nnayereugo, who had been on the run following the gruesome killing of 21-year-old Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe—a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan—was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025.

According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extradition was the result of a coordinated effort involving the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.

The suspect allegedly murdered Onuwabhagbe at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023, and fled the country shortly afterward. Despite later releasing a video online claiming responsibility, authorities described the act as a deceptive tactic meant to mislead investigations.

A petition submitted by the victim’s family through their legal team on September 29, 2024, triggered a full-scale investigation led by INTERPOL NCB Abuja. Nnayereugo was initially apprehended in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under the false identity “Kanu Princeton Samuel” on October 20, 2023, but escaped during a prison break on November 26.

Further intelligence revealed he continued to elude capture by assuming multiple false identities across West Africa, East Asia, and eventually the Middle East. He finally settled in Doha under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye,” using a forged Guinean passport to secure illegal employment.

Advanced biometric analysis and close collaboration between INTERPOL NCBs in Abuja and Doha led to his arrest in February 2025. Following an official request from the Nigerian government, Qatari authorities approved his extradition.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the international collaboration that made the extradition possible. He specifically thanked the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their support.

The IGP assured Nigerians that the fugitive would face diligent prosecution, reaffirming the police force’s commitment to justice and the safety of all citizens.
