NNPC Ltd Urges Motorists to Avoid Panic Buying as Petrol Supply Improves

As the nationwide supply and distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, continues to improve, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reiterated its call for motorists to shun panic buying of the product. This appeal comes as filling stations across several states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have seen a significant reduction in queues.

According to the NNPC Ltd, the company currently has an impressive stock of over 1.5 billion litres of PMS, equivalent to over 30 days sufficiency. This ample supply ensures that motorists have access to petrol without resorting to panic buying.

To address hoarding and other unwholesome practices, the NNPC Ltd is collaborating with relevant downstream agencies, including the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), labour unions in the sector, and security operatives.

In a statement, Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Abuja, reassured motorists that the company is committed to maintaining a stable and efficient supply of petrol across the country. With the current stock levels and improved distribution, there is no need for panic buying, and motorists can fill up with confidence.

As the supply situation continues to improve daily in other states, the NNPC Ltd urges motorists to remain calm and avoid panic buying, which can lead to unnecessary queues and disruptions. With the company’s sufficient stock and collaborative efforts with relevant stakeholders, the petrol supply situation is under control, and motorists can look forward to a smoother and more efficient fueling experience.
