Nigeria’s Police Athletes Shine at 13th African Games: IGP Applauds Medal Haul


In a display of exceptional skill and determination, Nigeria’s Police Athletes garnered praise and accolades at the 13th African Games held in Accra, Ghana, drawing commendation from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM.

The IGP, through the Force Director of Sports (FSO), CP Patrick A. Atayero, lauded the outstanding performances of the Police Athletes, highlighting their significant contributions to the nation’s sporting success on the continental stage.

Comparing the African Games to a continental Olympics, the IGP underscored the importance of young and talented Police Sports Men and Women showcasing their prowess and representing Nigeria with pride.

He emphasized the success of the Police Athletes as a testament to the efficacy of the Force’s sports development initiatives.

The medalists, including Inspr. Aisha Adamu, Sgt. Mohammed Inuwa, Sgt. Emmanuel Bala, and others, exhibited remarkable skill in various disciplines such as Arm wrestling, Athletics, Badminton, Mixed Martial Arts, Swimming, and Hockey. Their efforts secured a total of 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals for Nigeria at the prestigious event.

Expressing gratitude to the athletes for their dedication and commitment to sporting excellence, national unity, and development, the IGP highlighted their role as inspirations to other Police Officers and aspiring athletes across the nation.
