Nigeria’s Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has stressed the importance of entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation in driving the country’s economic growth. Speaking at the 2024 Guardian of the Nation International Emerging Leaders Conference in Abuja, Kalu emphasized that these elements align with the 10th House of Representatives’ legislative agenda, which focuses on promoting inclusive growth through legislative interventions.

Nigeria’s complex social and economic environment presents challenges like poverty, systemic issues, and political obstacles. However, the country’s rich social fabric, rooted in communal values, education, and respect, remains a source of strength. This sense of community creates a foundation for social cooperation, collective growth, and empowered grassroots movements advocating for positive change.
Kalu praised government initiatives supporting startups and infrastructure development, citing them as steps in the right direction. He emphasized the need to create an environment that nurtures creativity and opens doors for entrepreneurs to thrive globally. By transforming the economic landscape and cultivating an entrepreneurial ecosystem, Nigeria can harness its vast potential, leading to sustainable growth and increased competitiveness.
To achieve this, Kalu stressed the importance of integrity and dedication in visionary leadership. He urged participants to prioritize Nigeria’s development and imbibe resilience for the country’s good. “The path from good to great is a journey marked by resilience, knowledge, and commitment to excellence,” he said.
As Nigeria strives for economic growth, leveraging entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation is crucial. By embracing this journey, the country can unlock its potential, foster sustainable growth, and make a lasting impact on the global stage.
