Nigerian Navy Elevates 127 Senior Officers in Latest Promotion Drive


The Nigerian Navy has announced the promotion of 127 senior officers to various ranks, marking a significant milestone in the service’s efforts to enhance its leadership and operational capabilities. The promotions, approved by the Navy Board on November 27, 2025, include 15 Commodores elevated to the rank of Rear Admiral, 31 Captains promoted to Commodore, and 81 Commanders advancing to the rank of Captain.

The newly promoted Rear Admirals include notable officers such as Olumide Olajide Fadahunsi, Patrick Emuebie Meteke, and Ponfa Paul Nimmyel, among others. These officers have demonstrated exceptional service and leadership, earning them this prestigious recognition.

The list of newly promoted Commodores features officers like Solomon Olushola Ohunenese, Mahmud Abubakar Fana, and Taofiq Migdad Gidado, who have shown remarkable dedication to the Nigerian Navy’s mission.

In a statement, Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, congratulated the newly promoted officers and their families, emphasizing the importance of their continued commitment to the nation’s maritime security and loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces .

This promotion drive reflects the Nigerian Navy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership and enhance its capacity to address maritime challenges, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
