In a bid to enhance the physical fitness and mental alertness of its personnel, the Nigerian Navy conducted its second quarter Route March on Saturday, July 14, 2024.
The march was led by the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Admiralty Medal represented by Chief of Administration, Rear Admiral Kennedy Ezete.
The event commenced at the Naval Unit Parade Ground in Asokoro, Abuja, and saw the participation of numerous naval officers and personnel.
Starting early in the morning, the march covered a designated route, symbolizing the Navy’s commitment to both national security and the well-being of its members.
Speaking on behalf of the CNS, Rear Admiral Ezete conveyed his message on the significance of physical fitness and mental alertness for naval officers.
He highlighted that maintaining peak physical condition is crucial for the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Navy.
“The walk is essential to ensure our naval officers are fit to perform their duties,” he stated.
Rear Admiral Ezete further elaborated on the benefits of the walk, stating that it also aims to foster a sense of camaraderie among the officers.
He hilighted that promoting camaraderie is vital as it enhances teamwork and the collective spirit within the force noting that the march is a reminder of the strength of working together.
The route march, lasted several hours, testing the endurance and resilience of the participants who maintained high spirits, singing and chanting naval songs.
Upon completion of the march, Rear Admiral Ezete praised the officers for their dedication and encouraged them to keep up with regular fitness routines.
He reiterated the CNS’s call for continuous fitness, stating, the readiness of the Navy to defend Nigeria depends on the ability of the personnel to stay fit and alert at all times.
The event underscores the Nigerian Navy’s ongoing efforts to ensure the well-being of its personnel, reinforcing the importance of fitness in their professional and personal lives.
