The Nigerian Navy Basic Training School witnessed a momentous event on Saturday, April 27, as Batch 35 trainees celebrated their Passing Out Parade (POP) in Onne, Rivers State.

According to the statement Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, graced the occasion as the Reviewing Officer, emphasizing the significance of this milestone in the nation’s defense.
Under the stewardship of Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the ceremony marked the culmination of six months of intensive training for 1,486 dedicated individuals, comprising 1,240 males and 246 females.
This diverse cohort underwent rigorous instruction in various naval disciplines, including seamanship, boat handling, small arms proficiency, rifle drills, endurance training, and unarmed combat, preparing them for the challenges of service ahead.
The POP unfolded as a vibrant spectacle, symbolizing the entrants’ official entry into the esteemed Nigerian Navy. Following the ceremonial march past in both slow and quick time, the trainees showcased their precision and discipline through a captivating silent drill display.
The occasion was further adorned by the presentation of awards to outstanding performers by the Reviewing Officer, alongside the exchange of souvenirs among distinguished guests.
Among the esteemed attendees were representatives from the Executive Governors of Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, as well as the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence and delegates from various Service Chiefs.
The presence of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and Principal Staff Officers from Defence Headquarters and Naval Headquarters underscored the national importance of this occasion.
As the trainees embark on their naval careers, their steadfast dedication and unwavering commitment to the service of their nation serve as a testament to the enduring spirit of patriotism within the Nigerian Navy.
