The Nigerian Armed Forces have reported significant successes in their ongoing military operations against terrorists, oil thieves, and violent extremists across the country.
Over the past week, security forces neutralized 27 terrorists, arrested 62 suspected criminals, and rescued 44 kidnapped victims, according to Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations.
In the Northeast, troops of Operation HADIN KAI engaged in fierce battles with terrorists in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. Eighteen terrorists were neutralized, and 31 kidnapped victims were rescued. Additionally, nine terrorists, including women and children, surrendered to the military.
In a major breakthrough, troops arrested 11 suspected terrorist collaborators, including four Pakistani nationals, in Borno and Yobe states. Several weapons, including AK-47 rifles, RPG bombs, and IED-making materials, were recovered.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA conducted multiple offensives in Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto states. Eight terrorists were killed, six arrested, and 55 kidnapped victims were freed.
Security forces also responded to intelligence reports, arresting kidnappers and recovering arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and cash from criminals.
Meanwhile, Operation WHIRL PUNCH troops in Kogi and Edo states arrested 13 criminals linked to high-profile kidnappings.
Among those apprehended were eight associates of the notorious kidnapper, Dogon Dawa. Weapons, mobile phones, and over ₦725,000 in cash were seized.
Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN carried out successful raids in Plateau and Kaduna states, neutralizing four extremists and rescuing 13 kidnapped hostages.
Additionally, 15 criminals were arrested, and a significant cache of weapons, including six AK-47 rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, was seized. In a separate operation, troops intercepted gunrunners transporting illegal arms.
Similarly, Operation WHIRL STROKE troops in Taraba, Nasarawa, and Benue states arrested 30 criminals, neutralized one extremist, and rescued four kidnapped victims.
Security forces recovered multiple weapons, including AK-47 rifles, cutlasses, daggers, and motorcycles used for criminal activities.
In the South-South region, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE intensified their fight against crude oil theft. Security forces destroyed 24 illegal refining sites and seized over 253,000 liters of stolen crude oil and 42,000 liters of illegally refined diesel (AGO). Twenty-three oil thieves were arrested, and two hostages were rescued.
In a separate crackdown, troops arrested drug dealers in Akwa Ibom State with 20kg of cannabis. Security forces also seized stolen pipelines and a locally fabricated pistol.
Troops of Operation UDO KA continued operations against the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Five IPOB/ESN terrorists were arrested, and four kidnapped victims were rescued in Anambra, Ebonyi, and Imo states. The military also recovered AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, IED materials, and explosive devices from insurgents.
The Nigerian Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the lives and property of all citizens. All arrested suspects and recovered items have been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
