In a relentless pursuit against the remnants of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) and their JAS counterparts in North East Nigeria, the gallant troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army have achieved another significant victory.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, a Combat Team (CT) of the Division executed an aggressive clearance patrol, targeting six villages believed to be hideouts for terrorists holding hostages.

The operation yielded remarkable results as troops successfully cleared these areas, liberating them from the grip of terror.

Encountering the terrorists head-on, the CT engaged them in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralization of five terrorists.

Moreover, the brave troops rescued 78 individuals, including 35 women and 43 children, who were being held captive by the terrorists.

The villages and enclaves cleared during the operation include Ngurusoye, Sabon Gari, Mairamri 1 and 2, Bula Dalo, and Bula Dalo extension, along with Yamanci and Gargaji general areas.

Among the items recovered from the terrorists’ possession were a terrorist flag and a mobile phone.

The rescued victims are currently under custody for preliminary investigation and profiling to ensure their safety and well-being.

The troops’ relentless efforts are part of the ongoing Operations Desert Sanity III, aimed at completely eradicating terrorist elements from the North East region of Nigeria.
