In a decisive move against terrorism, Nigerian Army troops executed a meticulously planned raid operation on Friday, March 8, 2024, targeting a terrorists’ camp nestled within the rugged terrain of the Sambisa Forest.
According to a statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the operation, part of the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North East region, yielded significant success as troops swiftly neutralized three terrorists, including a suicide bomber, and obliterated their stronghold.
During the meticulously executed operation, troops combed through the dense foliage of the Arra area in the Sambisa Forest, confronting and ultimately eliminating the terrorist threat.
In addition to neutralizing the extremists, the troops seized two AK-47 Rifles and a suicide vest, disrupting the insurgents’ capacity to inflict harm and terrorize the populace.
Simultaneously, in a separate operation, Nigerian Army forces conducted a thorough clearance operation in the Buluwa Area of Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State.
This operation resulted in the discovery and destruction of another terrorists’ camp, further weakening the grip of insurgency in the region.
In the course of the engagement, one terrorist was eliminated, and a cache of weapons and supplies was seized, including an AK-47 Rifle, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a bicycle, food provisions, a grinding machine, and various other items essential to sustaining terrorist activities.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and insurgency from the region.
He emphasized that the Army will persist in conducting proactive operations aimed at safeguarding the safety and security of the populace.
The successful operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s resolute determination and capability to confront and neutralize threats posed by terrorist elements, bolstering confidence in the nation’s ability to combat terrorism and restore peace and stability to affected communities.
