Nigerian Army to Investigate Alleged Killing of Civilians and Cattle in Kaduna State


The Nigerian Army has announced that it will conduct a thorough investigation into reports alleging that its troops were involved in the killing of three locals and over 100 cattle during a recent operation in Sabon Birni, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, acknowledged the disturbing reports circulating in both mainstream and social media, which included graphic images and videos of the incident.

The Army expressed sympathy for the Sabon Birni community and the families of the affected individuals, while also stressing that the military is committed to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has ordered an in-depth investigation into the incident to determine its causes and hold any culpable personnel accountable.

The Army has urged the public to remain calm and assured that the findings of the investigation will be made public.

The incident has sparked concern in the community, and the Army’s commitment to transparency in addressing the situation is expected to play a crucial role in maintaining public trust.
