A Nigerian Army personnel was arrested in Maiduguri, Borno State, by the Military Police K9 Team during a routine search operation at the Borno Express Terminal. Lance Corporal Mubarak Yakubu was found with 756 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition and four 36 hand grenades concealed within a bag of rice.
This arrest demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to upholding its zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities by its personnel.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Yakubu had been de-inducted from active theatre operations in March 2024 and was undergoing de-induction training at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.
While on a welfare pass from Jaji to Kaduna and Adamawa, he was apprehended.
