The Nigerian Armed Forces have made significant strides in counter-terrorism and security operations across the country, conducting joint missions with security agencies and hybrid forces. Over the past week, troops have neutralized 92 terrorists, arrested 111 suspected criminals, and rescued 75 kidnapped victims. Additionally, 18 individuals involved in oil theft were apprehended, preventing losses estimated at ₦521.8 million.
In the Northeast, troops under Operation Hadin Kai engaged in fighting patrols, ambushes, and clearance operations across several local government areas in Borno and Yobe States. Among those neutralized was a key terrorist commander, Abba Alai. Security forces also secured the surrender of 101 terrorists and their families, including women and children. Several weapons, including AK-47 rifles, RPG bombs, and IEDs, were recovered alongside motorcycles and large quantities of ammunition.
In the Northwest, Operation Fasan Yamma continued its offensive against terrorist groups in Zamfara, Niger, and Katsina States. Troops successfully neutralized terrorists, rescued hostages, and dismantled criminal hideouts. A precision airstrike on a known terrorist camp in Zamfara State destroyed structures and eliminated several fighters. Intelligence-led operations also led to the arrest of suspected kidnappers and the recovery of arms and ammunition.
Security operations in the North Central region under Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke led to the arrest of extremists and the rescue of kidnapped victims in Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, and Taraba States. Troops also conducted targeted raids in Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory, neutralizing criminals and seizing weapons, including AK-47 rifles and revolvers. In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe intensified efforts against oil theft, uncovering and dismantling illegal refining sites. Authorities recovered large quantities of stolen crude oil, refined products, and seized equipment such as boats and storage tanks.
In the Southeast, troops under Operation Udo Ka clashed with suspected IPOB/ESN militants in Anambra and Enugu States. The engagement led to the neutralization of extremists, the arrest of suspected criminals, and the recovery of weapons, explosives, and motorcycles.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to national security, emphasizing that all arrested suspects and recovered items had been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation. He assured that troops would continue to protect lives and property in line with established rules of engagement and operational codes of conduct.
