Nigeria to Strengthen Military Ties with Tanzania: A Step Towards African Cooperation


In a recent statement from the Ministry of Defence, Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to enhancing military cooperation with Tanzania, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the two nations.

Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, affirmed this stance during a visit from a delegation representing the Tanzania National Defence College Course 12/2023/24.

The delegation, currently on a familiarization visit and study tour in Abuja, engaged in discussions aimed at deepening military ties between Nigeria and Tanzania.

Highlighting the existing strong bilateral understanding on military relations between Nigeria and Tanzania, Dr. Kana expressed optimism about the potential for further collaboration.

He emphasized the significance of such interactions in fostering greater achievements not only for Tanzania but for Africa as a whole.

Representing the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olu Mustapha, the Director of Joint Services Department, warmly welcomed the Tanzanian delegation.

Commodore BT Rutambuka, SDS Navy and leader of the visiting delegation, lauded Nigeria for its ongoing military cooperation efforts.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Nigeria’s defense sector, viewing it as a means to bolster their own expertise and advance their careers.

This reaffirmation of commitment to military cooperation underscores Nigeria’s proactive approach to strengthening ties with fellow African nations, setting a positive precedent for collaborative efforts aimed at regional security and development.
