Nigeria has announced its readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in the production of defence equipment and hardware, following the enactment of the new Nigerian Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Act.
This partnership was confirmed by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle MON, during a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Pakistan Air Force led by Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Zaeem.
In a meeting held at the Ministry of Defence’s Ship House in Abuja, Dr. Matawalle emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities through this partnership.
He highlighted the potential for the exchange of real-time intelligence, which would not only meet Nigeria’s military needs but also strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two nations.
“We are prepared to outline the necessary requirements for documentation and further engagements that will benefit both countries,” Dr. Matawalle stated.
The Pakistani delegation is in Nigeria to participate in the 60th Anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force and the 3rd African Air Force Forum, taking place on May 23rd and 24th in Abuja, with the grand finale scheduled for May 25th in Kaduna.
These events are expected to draw numerous Chiefs of Air Staff and leaders from the global aerospace industry.
AVM Zaeem expressed Pakistan’s support for Nigeria’s military efforts, noting that the cooperation in military equipment production will significantly aid Nigeria in its fight against insecurity.
He reiterated the strong military ties between Nigeria and Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of real-time intelligence sharing and training in bolstering Nigeria’s security.
