Declares Andrew Wynne a British national and Lucky Ehis Obiyan, wanted………
The Nigeria Police Force has initiated a sweeping investigation into an alleged plot by a foreign national and several subversive elements to destabilize the country and overthrow the democratically elected government through unconstitutional means.
Speaking during a press briefing, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that nine suspects have already been apprehended as part of this probe.
The suspects are believed to have received substantial financial backing from foreign sources, with preliminary findings indicating that they orchestrated violent protests, spread false information, and engaged in other unlawful activities aimed at creating chaos and justifying their illegal scheme.
Central to the investigation is British national Andrew Wynne, who also goes by the aliases Andrew Povich and Drew Povey. Wynne is accused of building a network of sleeper cells across Nigeria with the intent to topple the government and plunge the nation into chaos.
He allegedly used various fronts, including an ‘Iva Valley Bookshop’ in Abuja and a school, ‘STARS of Nations Schools,’ as cover for his subversive activities.
Documentary evidence and confessions suggest that Wynne provided financial and operational guidance to his Nigerian collaborators, mobilizing billions of naira to fund violent activities.
His plan allegedly involved inciting the public to storm police facilities and military barracks, with the hope of provoking a violent response that would draw international condemnation of the Nigerian government.
Wynne has since fled the country, prompting the police to declare him and his local coordinator, Lucky Ehis Obiyan, wanted. A global manhunt for the suspects has been launched.
The other suspects, including Angel Love Innocent, Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon, and Michael Tobitoba Adaramoye, have been arraigned in court on charges of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun condemned the activities of the group and has activated INTERPOL tools and global policing networks to aid in the ongoing investigation.
He assured the public that the Force would spare no effort in bringing the culprits to justice.
The IGP also urged citizens to be cautious of subversive elements who may try to exploit protests for their own financial and ideological gain, while reaffirming the Force’s commitment to protecting the fundamental rights of Nigerians to peaceful assembly and free expression.
The police also clarified that recent invitations extended to certain leaders within the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) were not related to their rights advocacy but rather focused on establishing connections between them and Andrew Wynne.
The police have appealed for public support and cooperation, promising handsome rewards for information leading to the arrest of the wanted suspects.
