In a spectacular celebration of the yuletide season, the Nigeria Police Force hosted the 2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons in Abuja, drawing government dignitaries, officers, and members of the public to a spiritually uplifting event filled with hymns, prayers, and thanksgiving.
The carol, held on Friday at the new Police Resource Centre in Jabi, Abuja, continued late into the night, leaving attendees inspired by the joyous atmosphere.
Many described the occasion as a memorable and spiritually enriching way to usher in the festive season.
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, delivered a heartfelt exhortation and led prayers, emphasizing the importance of hope, faith, and unity.
His message resonated deeply with the audience, adding to the significance of the evening.
The event highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, to promoting peace, unity, and community spirit among officers, their families, and the general public.
Prominent dignitaries graced the occasion, including Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu, and several senators and lawmakers.
Also in attendance was Mrs. Queen Elizabeth Egbetokun, wife of the Inspector-General of Police.
The evening featured a rich programme of events, including scripture readings, goodwill messages, and special Christmas carol performances by the Nigeria Police Choir.
The event was capped by inspiring renditions of hymns that filled the venue with a festive and reverent spirit.
Speaking at the event, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the significance of the season, stating,
“The Christmas season signifies God’s ultimate love to humanity. May we partake in this season by sharing selfless love with all around us. And may this love bring peace and progress to our nation.”
