Nigeria Police Arrests Eight Suspects in Connection with Ughelli Killings


In a recent development following the tragic ambush incidents in Ughelli, Delta State, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of eight suspects linked to the gruesome murder of policemen on operational duties.

The incidents occurred on February 23rd and 26th, 2024, resulting in the death of six officers, with six others still missing.

The arrests came after rigorous investigative efforts by the police. Initially, five suspects were apprehended shortly after the incidents, and three more were captured in different locations based on information and cooperation provided by the initial suspects. This brings the total number of arrests to eight.

Currently, the arrested suspects are in custody, actively cooperating with ongoing investigations.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to ensuring swift and decisive justice for all responsible for the reprehensible acts.

Once investigations are concluded, the suspects will face trial with credible evidence.

Expressing deep sorrow over the violence against officers dedicated to protecting and serving the community, the Nigeria Police emphasized solidarity with the families of the fallen officers during this challenging period.

The Force also reaffirmed its stance that perpetrators of such heinous crimes disrupt peace and will not escape punishment.

The news was confirmed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, from Force Headquarters in Abuja.
