NDA Holds 35th Convocation, Graduates Over 2,600 Students


The Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, has graduated 2,618 cadets and postgraduate students at its 35th Convocation Ceremony held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Academy’s permanent site in Afaka.

The event, which honoured cadets of the 72 Regular Course alongside postgraduate students, was graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, as Special Guest of Honour. The Minister of Defence, H.E. Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, was represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, GCON.

In his welcome address, the Commandant of NDA, Major General A. K. Ibrahim, noted that all academic programmes offered by the Academy are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). 

He emphasized that the institution’s commitment to discipline, performance, and skill development has enabled its cadets to excel both locally and in foreign missions.

The ceremony featured the conferment of degrees, presentation of certificates and academic prizes, as well as the admission of postgraduate students into the NDA Alumni Association. Honorary degrees were also conferred on distinguished Nigerians for their contributions to national development and service to humanity.

Among the highlights was the Honourable Minister of Defence Award, presented to Cadet G. A. Olowokere, who emerged the best graduating student in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Academic awards were also presented to cadets who graduated with not less than Second Class Upper Division in their respective faculties.

Graduates included officer cadets, postgraduate diploma holders, master’s degree recipients, and PhD graduates across diverse disciplines.

The Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Sunday Musa Attah, and other dignitaries attended the convocation, which reaffirmed the Academy’s role in producing highly trained military officers and scholars for national service.
